Emmanuel Kessler
Head of Prevention & Outreach in the Cybercrime Centre
Emmanuel Kessler has joined Europol in 2020, as the head of Prevention & Outreach in EC3, the cybercrime centre of Europol. His team covers public private partnership, outreach, prevention&awareness, E-governance, cooperation with external partners. Previously, he was the head of staff of the national cybercrime unit in France (OCLCTIC), covering international cooperation and EU matters, operational coordination. He started to work on cybercrime in 2011, as cyber cooperation officer in the Department of international cooperation (DCIS) of the French Ministry of Interior. 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗶𝘁𝗹𝗲: How Investigations foster successes of cybersecurity? The latest lessons learnt from Europol. 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: Law enforcement actors bring a complementary support in the cybersecurity missions. Beyond the protection of networks and infrastructures, the goal is more than ever to detect, investigate and disrupt the criminal groups and their capacities. Since 2013, EC3, The Cybercrime Centre of Europol has become a major cooperation hub, supporting the most emblematic operations against cyberattacks, from ransomwares, online frauds, darknet,..to Child sexual exploitation. Challenges are real but Innovation is permanent and the key of success.

Thom is an experienced security manager, currently in his role as Head of Governance, Risk & Compliance responsible for Security Risk management (incl. Vendor risk management), Governance of Security framework and Resilience (incl, crisis management), and Compliance to our standards and external laws and regulations! The scope is all different security domains: cyber security (including products and OT) and physical security and all relevant compliance domains that require security attention: privacy, export controls, supply chain etc. 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗶𝘁𝗹𝗲: How can you integrate SMART New Laws, Regulations AND Technologies 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: How do we handle new regulations and compliance items (the approach), like NIS2, DORA, but also new technologies like AI. Holding an LL.M in IP&ICT Law from KU Leuven and being a certified CIPP/E professional, Ivana leads the Regulatory Compliance Practice at Sopra Steria, where she is responsible for business development, team management, and ensuring project success. Her commitment to knowledge-sharing drives her collaborations with universities, bridging the gap between law and cybersecurity. Recognized as a Young ICT Lady of the Year 2022 Nominee and a Privacy Team of the Year 2023 Finalist, Ivana is a conference speaker, Cyber & Law blogger, and law journal reviewer. Topics of her interest are AI, Security by design and data protection. He graduated from the Military Technical Academy in Bucharest, within this faculty obtaining the title of Doctor in Computer Science. Later he even became a professor at this institution. He completed his studies at the University of Bucharest, graduating with an MBA - Business Administration, Management and Operations. Mr. Burdun is a renowned specialist involved in dozens of major projects, in Romania, but also in other countries, for the implementation of infrastructures with public keys for various organizations. He also participated in over 10 research and development projects, implemented by certSIGN, publishing over 15 articles on cybersecurity. He was part of the design and implementation team of the certSAFE product for Certification Authorities and other cryptographic applications. His areas of expertise include advanced electronic signature schemes, PKI interoperability and the legal aspects of electronic signatures.

Sergiu Zaharia
Independent Cyber Advisor & Founder
𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿: Independent advisor with more than 20 years of experience in cyber operations, crisis management, training and strategic advisory for local and international organizations. He was coaching, training and leading security professionals who became the new generation of CISOs or successful cyber entrepreneurs. Sergiu is supporting organizations from critical sectors to identify their cyber resilience maturity level, to define and execute their cyber strategy, as well as to become optimally ready to absorb the impact of upcoming cyber crises. Sergiu has multiple certifications in cyber security and privacy, a merit diploma from the IT Security Master of Science, and recently became PhD after researching artificial intelligence as an enabler for software resilience. He is also a formally authorized trainer and a passionate lecturer for cyber dreaming students.
